Cameco, Sierra Club face off over licenses

“An environmental group is raising pollution concerns about Cameco’s uranium mining in northern Saskatchewan to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission.

“But Cameco (TSX:CCO) says the Sierra Club’s submission creates a false impression of the environmental performance of the facilities.

“The commission will hear from both sides as public hearings start Tuesday on Cameco’s application to renew its mine and mill licences for its Key Lake, McArthur River and Rabbit Lake facilities.”

Read the full story online. Committee for Future Generations members have also made submissions to the CNSC and will be present at the hearings in La Ronge this week. The Commission hearings will be livestreamed online, beginning at 7pm (Sask time) on October 1 and continuing October 2 and 3.
