Group fighting Pinehouse agreement want meaningful consultation

court houseMeaningful consultation means free, prior and informed consent, the lawyer for the plaintiffs, Larry Kowalchuk, said. On April 4, he presented the plaintiffs’ case at the Court of Queen’s Bench in Prince Albert to Justice A.R. Rothery.

“Free, in the sense that people shouldn’t be criticized or supressed in voicing what they honestly think. Informed – we think there’s an obligation here to tell citizens here’s what uranium and uranium mining, etcetera means, its impact. We have 40 years of experience here in northern Saskatchewan, so, we want to know that information so that people can make an informed decision,” Kowalchuk said last week.
